Abstract

In order to achieve accurate localization and tracking of people and objects in both outdoor and indoor scenarios, different technologies are currently available, but none of them is able to provide the desired coverage, reliability and accuracy in a stand-alone mode. This chapter focuses on several fingerprinting-based technologies which can be used to achieve seamless or fluent positioning and it discusses their challenges, and possible solutions to such challenges. The joint or hybridization methods are one of the solutions to reach seamless positioning and different hybrid mechanisms are also discussed here.
