Abstract

A consistent methodology to assess the effect of inductor current ripple on the dynamics of an average-current controlled buck converter is presented based on the duty-cycle constraints derived for peak-current mode control. The duty-cycle constraints for average-current-mode control are derived in a unified basis leading to small-signal models describing and predicting accurately the dynamical behavior of a converter. The dynamic effect of high-frequency pole of the current-loop controller is discussed more in detail.
