Abstract
Two methods were studied for converting phase modulation into amplitude modulation in a single multimode fiber: 1) differential phase modulation, and 2) interference between the light beams transmitted by the fiber and reflected from the ends. It is shown that frequency mixing of the modulation signals can be employed in a multimode fiber by exploiting internal interference effects.
