Tiivistelmä

Photovoltaic (PV) systems are prone to deep,
steep and frequent irradiance fluctuations, mainly originated
from overpassing cloud shadows, which cause fluctuations
in PV power production. These irradiance transitions have
been modelled by using a mathematical function to study
their behaviour in a systematic way. Although the used
methods and obtained results seem to be reliable, the
simulation model has not been verified in detail. In this
paper, the accuracy of the used theoretical model for
irradiance transitions has been verified experimentally. The
results show that the simulation model is accurate enough to
study the irradiance transitions caused by moving clouds
and their effects on the operation of PV systems.
